VOLUNTEERS’ CONCLAVE

The ATMA Foundation Volunteers’ Conclave was organized on 10th June 2017, Saturday, from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at Hotel Radhakrishna Prasadam, Kuruppam Road, Thrissur, with the participation of 41 delegates. Volunteers

The conclave commenced with a prayer by Smt Nirmala Vamanan, Music Teacher, ATMA Kalakshetram. Sri K K Komalakumar, Secretary, ATMA Foundation, welcomed the delegates.

The conclave commenced with an experience-sharing session, ‘ATMA & ME’, where each delegate spoke on what attracted them to ATMA Foundation, and why and how they want to continue working with ATMA.

Founder Director Sri C K Suresh, in his keynote address, shared his early experiences in social work, and how the concept of ATMA Foundation evolved. Ms Sangeetha N, Programme Officer, gave a brief presentation on the difference between Social Work & Social Service, Volunteerism, and basics of NGO Functioning. Ms parvathy G, Trustee, gave a presentation on the current activities and projects of ATMA Foundation.

The next session, led by C K Suresh, was on ‘Clarifying Organisational Values’, where he elaborated on the core values and guiding principles of ATMA Foundation.

This was followed by a group discussion on various ATMA Projects. The delegates chose their groups according to their specific interest areas and contribution possibilities. Each group worked out a rough schedule of activities that can be organized in the coming year.

This was followed by a general discussion on the annual calendar.

The post lunch session had a special guest – Dr Vaikom Vijayalakshmi, noted playback singer and record – holding Gayatri Veena artiste, who visited the conclave and offered her best wishes and support to the activities of ATMA Foundation. The delegates also celebrated the 44th Wedding Anniversary of ATMA Volunteers Smt Prabha and Sri Mohan.

The conclave concluded at 3.30 pm with a summing up of the day’s proceedings by Ms Parvathy.

This was followed by a special programme to honour Dr Sreelakshmi, former ATMA EC Lab member, on her success in the Civil Service Examination. ATMA Volunteers Sri C N Jayarajan and Smt Sangeetha N, and ATMA Foundation Life members Sri T R Vijayakumar and Sri V M Manoharan, offered their felicitations to Dr Sreelakshmi. C K Suresh presented a token of appreciation to Dr Sreelakshmi and her husband Sri Dinoop Dev. In her reply address, Dr Sreelakshmi recalled her experiences in the ATMA EC labs, and how some powerful statements from C K Suresh had transformed her thinking, enabling her to chase her current dream. Sri C K Suresh, in his concluding address, congratulated Dr Sreelakshmi, and expressed his happiness that good people were coming into the Civil Service. He also appreciated the fact that, in an era when women were forced to chose between family and career, Dr Sreelakshmi has become a role model by gracefully combining both.
